This is the perfect film for couples, giving men the enjoyment of watching Tera Patrick in action, yet having no lesbian or anal sequences which might turn a woman off. To top it all off, the film is wonderfully shot and directed by Joone, who (if he keeps this kind of quality up in future endeavors) may just be on his way to becoming adult film’s next Andrew Blake.
Like Andrew Blake at his best, Joone gives us no storyline or dialogue in Island Fever…just the most beautiful women in porn doing what they do best: masturbating and getting it on with hot studs. Of course, the real star in this title is Tera Patrick, and her fans won’t be disappointed, as she has two hot scenes with Devin Wolf, one with Bobby Vitale and several masturbation sequences as well.
The film was shot in Maui, and director Joone takes full advantage of the locations, providing some of the best shot adult film I have ever watched before. The surroundings are almost as beautiful as the women and the action begins with Tera in front of a waterfall masturbating. The action then shifts to a cliff overlooking the beach, where Tera is joined by blonde-haired Devin Wolf for some boy-girl action. If there was any doubt before that Tera gives one of the best blowjobs in adult film, those doubts will be put to rest once you see her perform in Island Fever. She gives Devin’s cock a real workout, and takes him in the missionary, standing doggy and reverse cowgirl positions before he finishes off by shooting his load onto her face. It’s a great facial, and a great way to start off the film.
Next up is Julia Ann, not my personal favorite when it comes to adult stars, but fans should certainly enjoy this scene, in which she also teams up with Devin. The bonus features on this DVD include a slide show and photo gallery (both with the same photographs), a fun behind the scenes look at the making of the film, and in perhaps the best bonus feature, a feature-length audio commentary that includes the director, Joone, but primarily features Tera! The commentary certainly makes up for the lack of dialogue in the film, and Tera tells some stories that are going to drive you wild. I won’t spoil too much for you, but just wait to you hear about her real-life adventures with a group of firemen! The video and audio on this disc are also top-notch.
Island Fever is one of those rarities in adult film that should have a broad appeal to a number of different audiences. First and foremost (as mentioned earlier), this is a great couples film, featuring beautiful locations, one on one boy-girl action, and nothing too kinky to scare the first time viewer of porn away. Of course, it’s also a great film for Tera fans, who will come away from Island Fever with a whole new appreciation for there favorite star…she looks fantastic in this film, and seems to really enjoy the action that she is involved in. Finally, die-hard raincoaters are going to enjoy the film as well, as the climaxes and hardcore fun is well-shot and contain the kind of angles and cumshots that fans seem to enjoy the most in their adult films.
So forget about getting away this summer for a vacation…your locale has already been determined…your destination is: Island Fever!

Forget the lube…pass the popcorn, because Digital Playground’s Pirates is a rip-roaring adventure that would almost make one forget they were watching an adult production if it were not for the 10 sex scenes that punctuate the action. Directed by Joone, the impressive line-up of female talent is accentuated by a strong male cast and some nifty special effects that make Pirates one of the most visually satisfying adult features ever.
The story begins out on the high seas, where newlyweds Isabella (Carmen Luvana) and Manuel (Kris Slater) are celebrating their honeymoon by consummating their marriage. After their romantic coupling, their ship is attacked by the infamous pirate Victor Stagnetti (Tommy Gunn) who is after Manuel for reasons that we will find out later in the movie. He kidnaps the groom and throws Isabella overboard.
Not far away, Captain Edward Reynolds (Evan Stone) is sailing his own vessel with the assistance of his first mate, Jules (Jesse Jane). To his shipmates, Reynolds seems to be a brave and courageous captain, but behind closed doors he relates his fears and concerns to Jules. They agree that the only way for him to become the captain he wants to be is to hunt down pirates – but Reynolds is uncertain how and where to begin. Fortune falls upon the captain when they find Isabella floating in the water nearby, rescue her and bring her aboard. She relates the kidnapping of Manuel to the crew, and Reynolds makes the decision that he will help Isabella and hunt down Stagnetti.
The search for Stagnetti leads Reynolds to an island, where Stagnetti and his own first mate, Serena (Janine), search for an Incan priest who can help them unravel the secret that Manuel is holding. As it turns out, Manuel’s body serves as a map to an ancient scepter – the possessor of which will have absolute power.
While Reynolds and his crew are searching for Stagnetti on the island, he gets sidetracked and seduced by a couple of prostitutes (Devon and Teagan Presley); while Jules meets up with a former lover (Steven St. Croix); and Isabella gets kidnapped and forced to perform with another women (Jenaveve Jolie) in front of a group of scruffy…and horny…pirates.
By the time Stagnetti gets the information that he has been looking for…which includes him killing a priest…Serena is starting to have second thoughts about serving under him, and winds up in a confessional talking to Jules, whom she believes is another priest. Later, Reynolds and Jules find themselves captured and tied up by Jules’ lover (who feels jilted) and the only way to escape is if Reynolds agrees to make love to one of the town prostitutes (Austyn Moore) who has had her eye on him since his ship came into port.
Then it’s back out to see for both crews as they race toward the island where the scepter is located. On the journey, Isabella relates to Jules how much she enjoyed having sex with another woman, which leads to a very hot coupling between Carmen and Jesse Jane that gets my vote for the hottest sex scene in Pirates. Both women are very aggressive with each other, and fans of Jesse should enjoy watching as Carmen fingers both of Jesse’s holes during the action.
The climax of the film has our heroes and villains in a showdown that takes place in an ancient temple. The cool thing about this scene is that virtually all of the surroundings are computer generated, but the results look more or less realistic in the film. There’s some fun stuff here as Reynolds and his team are forced to fight off a group of CGI-rendered skeletons, and then it’s back out to the sea for a final battle between the ships captained by Reynolds and Stagnetti.
In addition to the coupling between Jesse Jane and Carmen Luvana, Pirates includes a number of noteworthy sexual encounters. There’s an early scene between Jesse and Scott Nails that ends with one of the best facials in the movie, as Scott unloads a healthy amount of goo down onto her face. Jesse’s also has a nice coupling with Steven St. Croix at the mid-point of the movie, and a really hot movie-ending girl/girl scene with Janine that includes Jesse getting a pair of lit candles inserted into her pussy and ass.
Carmen also sees a good deal of action in the film, having two scenes with Kris Slater (one at the beginning and one at the end of the movie), plus two lesbian scenes – the first with Jenaveve Jolie and the other with Jesse. As already mentioned, the pairing with Jesse ranks as the best scene in the movie, but the one with Jenaveve is pretty hot too – as Carmen first rejects her advances, then gives into her lesbian lust.
Evan’s best scene is his threesome with Devon and Teagan, although Devon is the only one to actually be penetrated by Evan during the action – although both girls suck on Evan’s cock. The three-way ends with him jerking his load onto both of the girls’ faces. Evan’s other scene in the movie is with blonde-haired Austyn Moore, whom he makes out with while the room is on fire around him. This scene also ends with a nice facial.
The other sex scene in Pirates is between Janine and Tommy Gunn, which is fun because Janine is the aggressor, even though it’s Tommy who is playing the meaner character between the two. This scene begins with some oral from Tommy on Janine, and continues with cowgirl and doggy penetration, ending with a facial cumshot.
The coolest extra in this 3-disc set is the HD-DVD disc, in which both the movie and the Behind The Scenes featurette can be played in high-definition on your computer. Disc Two in the set features a standard version (although still anamorphic) of the Behind The Scenes (20 mintues), plus a bloopers reel (6 ½ minutes), a 50-picture Photo Gallery, a look at the special effects (2 mintues), the trailer for Pirates (2 minutes), an audition video for some of the non-sex roles (3 ½ minutes), bios for the female cast members, and a nice selection of trailers (for both Digital Playground and Adam & Eve releases). There’s also a short movie that was shot during the filming of Island Fever 3 featuring Evan Stone that was apparently the inspiration for Pirates.
The main disc features the movie in 16×9 anamorphic widescreen, with the option of listening to the film in either 5.1 or 2.0 Dolby. Also included is a feature-length commentary track with director Joone and stars Jesse Jane, Janine, Carmen Luvana and Tommy Gunn.
Pirates is one of those rare adult releases that actually lives up to the hype. It shows how good an adult release can be with a little time, patience and investment. So set your sails for adventure and get ready for a swashbuckling good time with one of the best adult features ever!
The eye-catching, wraparound cover of nine heavenly bodies posing demurely naked against a white background give some promise that IMMORTAL will be more than just another suck and fuck flick. And as it turns out, this movie just happens to be one of the best pictures I have ever seen from Jill Kelly Productions, and probably one of the best movies of the year. Actually, I first saw a superficial, Behind The Scenes preview of this movie after reviewing SYLVIA EXPOSED, and the sight of super-cute Devon already had me enticed. Then again with a cast that includes Asia Carrera, Dee, Haven, Shayla LaVeaux and of course Jill Kelly (it’s her production company after all), how can one go wrong?
Director Michael Raven has already delivered a handful of notable features: some good like ANDRENALINE, and some not so good at all like PRETTY GIRLS. Employing some impressive special effects, and primarily shot on film, this letterboxed movie derives its story from Greek mythology, with the finest women in porn naturally adopting the roles of the heavenly bodies and goddesses who guide us sexually as well as spiritually (I always questioned whether I was worshipping the wrong religion, and the feminine spirits in this flick have shown me the light to a new faith).
Jill Kelly takes on tattooed muscle guy Julian after literally running into him while skating into him on the beach. A struggling musician in Southern California (a truly rare breed of professions, apparently) is given inspiration by Jill’s sexual healing. Like all rock and rollers, Julian’s access to prime pussy is probably unlimited, but to getting Ms. Kelly (not once in this movie, but twice!) is a true accomplishment. The sex is slow and sensuous, and underscore by a piano and the sounds of waves washing across the shore. Although I prefer to hear the natural sounds of Jill’s orgasmic squeals and groans, the overdubbing here is not too bad at all, and certainly more inspired than the generic rock and roll bass and wailing guitar crap we get on most porn videos.
The plot barrels on with recording agent Randy Spears giving the kid a break (as if he hadn’t already had his share of good fortune by scoring with Jill Kelly). Like the Man of Steel in SUPERMAN II, Jill Kelly finds herself at risk of forfeiting all her powers and remaining on earth as a mortal if she continues her love for "the human." I guess it wouldn’t be too much of a plot revelation to indicate that Jill makes certain decisions which affect the course of their lives. The movie overall borrows from every other "guardian angel sent from heaven" movie you’ve ever seen, including the cult classic XANADU (as pointed out by the director in the Behind The Scenes segments), but the sex makes the mainstream clichés worthwhile.
Next, the unbelievably alluring Inari Vachs (decked out in her trademark glasses and short skirt which all add to her sexiness). Randy protests that he doesn’t like to mix business with pleasure, but that doesn’t stop him from accepting a wet, bubbly, deep throating blowjob from her. Reverse-cowgirl, doggy and missionary are all part of the sex action right before Randy unloads all over her stomach.
The movie barrels on with Devon, Tabitha Stevens, Haven, Monique DeMoan, Shayla LaVeaux descending upon earth and exploring how the mortals live in an orgy which reach boiling point levels of heat. With some intense fucking, lusty deep throating intercut with hardcore lesbian action (primarily between Tabitha Stevens and Charlie), this is yet another amazing moment in this consistently exciting flick. My only complaint is with a running time of under fifteen minutes, the sequence could have been a bit longer, perhaps with extended footage reserved for the Extras section of the DVD. Most videos pad out the sex scenes interminably, but I would not minded seeing the orgy go on for the better part of the movie. Still, compare how superbly directed and filmed this orgy is compared to the failed climactic scene in the mediocre FIESTA, and you’ll get an appreciation of how formidable Michael Raven’s direction is.
Asia Carrera, Dee and April Flowers (who looks so good and performs so well in UP AND CUMMERS #64 and #71) perform in a simply terrific threesome, where the multi-ethnic makeup and gorgeous bodies are all over each other. Director Raven gives us plenty of medium shots so we’re able to savor April going down on Asia while their bodies are in full view. Even better, the action is all tongues, fingers and lips without a single toy in sight, giving the scene a more intimate feeling.
Jill goes for another round with Julian in an outdoor scene which is even more exciting than the film’s opener. And though it takes place at night, the darkness and shadows never obscure the action. After that hot scene, it seems that the movie would be leading into a happy ending, but surprisingly, the story takes a twist for tragedy and a bittersweet ending with an epitaph from the fallen goddess (who also apparently carries the "legacy" of her mortal beloved), "I would rather die having known love, than to live forever without it." Only in Paul Thomas movies from Vivid do porn movies end with such sentiments. Luckily, Director Raven manages to pull of these pathos without making the movie look too mawkish or superficial.
The extras on this disc include your run-of-the-mill Photo Gallery of this flick, and one for ADULT MOVIE and NATURAL TEASE. There are two Behind The Scene featurettes, the first of which is more graphic and interesting that the other. As I mentioned before, Devon looks radiantly gorgeous, but it is also clear that she is just one of many highlights in this excellent flick.
IMMORTAL lives up to whatever hype or great word of mouth you might have heard about this movie. Very highly recommended.
